Scouting families,

We are fast approaching our Pinewood Derby this Saturday, 3/14 in Visi's Gym.  Please invite prospective scouts to come experience the event, and join in!  We will have LEGO car bases and LEGOS for interested scouts to build their own LEGO cars to race during brakes at the event.

Please share this flyer with anyone you know who may be interested.  If you know of a prospective scout that is planning on coming please email me at cubmaster369@gmail.com so I know how many to expect.  HERE is the link to the flyer.

We will also have a light breakfast and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

OVERVIEW OF THIS WEEK'S EVENTS

WEDNESDAY 3/11 6:15PM VISI'S GYM:  This is optional- we are setting up the track and testing the track for Saturday.  You can also bring your car to test/tweak it on the track.  If you still need help building we can offer assistance as well.

FRIDAY 3/13 6;15PM VISI'S GYM PINEWOOD SETUP AND CAR CHECK IN: We will be setting up for Pinewood starting at 6pm and we will begin checking cars in from 6:45-7:30pm.  For new families, your car needs to be checked in prior to racing.  A few important notes- ALL 4 wheels need to be touching the track and spin when moving the car, and the total weight can't exceed 5oz. Your car also needs a name!

SATURDAY 3/14 RACE DAY VISI GYM: Races will start promptly at 10am.  A light breakfast and refreshments will be provided by the pack for scouts and families. If you can't check your car in Friday evening please bring it Saturday morning between 9-9:30am to check in.  No cars will be checked in after 9:30am, please reach out if you have any issues making either check in time.

A SCOUT IT FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS, AND KIND: Pinewood Derby is an event that fosters parent-child bonding, teaches basic engineering and tool skills, and promotes good sportsmanship.  We will be handing out our Scout Spirit Award along with a 25$ gift card to the scout that demonstrates exemplary good sportsmanship during Pinewood. Please have a conversation with your scout about what we discussed at the last pack meeting- what good sportsmanship looks like with concrete examples.  We all as a pack family are an integral part of the character development of our scouts.

Help with Recruitment!

Posted by jdicicco1 on Feb 27 2026 - 1:10pm

Thank you all for your attendance and support during Blue and Gold, and congrats to all of our scouts!  If you were not there, we will distribute awards at the next Pack meeting.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Parents especially our younger dens, we really need some help promoting and recruiting new scouts.  The best way for this is word of mouth with your children's classmates and friends' parents.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us grow our pack.  Our goal is to add 10 new scouts in the next year.  Keeping our numbers up is essential to our pack continuing to  foster character development, teamwork, and leadership skills while teaching life-long, hands-on skills like camping and first aid.

Some selling points:

  • Many parents have their kids play sports. Sports and scouting both foster discipline, leadership, and physical activity, but differ in focus: sports emphasize team competition and specialized physical skills, while scouting focuses on outdoor skills, self-directed character development, and community service
  • Reinforce character development being taught at home, school etc.
  • Participation in scouting (Scouting America) can be used on college applications/resumes in the future.
  • Many skills I learned in scouting I still utilize today!

If you have a family interested, please forward me their contact information to Cubmaster369@gmail.com so I can reach out.

We also are having Pinewood Derby on 3/14 10-12pm serve as a recruitment event.  In addition to forwarding me their info, please invite them and share the flyer linked HERE  (seen below) to your social media accounts or other avenues of promoting scouts.  Thank you!
